Kent and Medway Medical School

The Kent and Medway Medical School in Canterbury, England provides the Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery (A100) course.

UCAT

The Kent and Medway Medical School use UCAT for its A100 course. They state on their website that they use a 'generous UCAT threshold' and then applicants are ranked on contextualised offers, which are applicants’ attainments relative to the school’s average. As Kent and Medway are unique in that they only look at a candidate’s achieved results, applicants are split into four groups with different UCAT thresholds. These are the latest ones available on their website:

Group A: A levels OR IB or equivalent

Group B: Post A level OR Pre-graduate student in final year of Bachelor’s degree

Group C: Post Bachelor’s Degree

Group D: Others

A UCAT Situational Judgement band of Band 4 leads to an instant rejection.

Personal Statement

While personal statements are not used as a primary method for selecting applicants for interview, they may be used to differentiate applicants who have attained the same qualifications and have the same UCAT. During the multiple mini-interview process the personal statement may form the basis of a discussion at one of the stations.
