UCAT Scholarships

To apply for this bursary, please ask your Teacher, Principal, Lecturer or Professor to write to MedEntry with reasons why you should be awarded the scholarship.

This may include:

  • Academic scholarships, awards or achievements.
  • Co-curricular excellence (e.g. leadership, public speaking).
  • Other awards/achievements (e.g. Science Olympiads, High Distinctions in ICAS).
  • Financial or social disadvantage

Your teacher can apply by either:

  1. 1. Clicking on ‘Apply now’ and filling in all relevant details.
  2. 2. Sending an email to MedEntry at info@medentry.co.uk. Your teacher should use their school email address and ensure that the application is addressed to ‘Scholarships Officer – MedEntry UCAT Prep’.

Note:

  1. 1. Only one student per school is eligible to obtain this Bursary (an exception may be made if nominees are outstanding).
  2. 2. Generic letters of support addressed as "To whom it may concern" will not be considered.
  3. 3. This discount cannot be obtained retrospectively (i.e. after the student has enrolled and paid).
  4. 4. The scholarship applies to the Premium package only, and provides a discount (up to ~60%) off the Premium Package.
    Note: This does not apply to the Headstart Packages
  5. 5. We strongly recommend that the nominator include the student’s email address so that the discount code can be provided directly to them.

  • Participation in community/voluntary/co-curricular activities
  • Motivation to study medicine
  • Social or financial disadvantage

The health professional can apply by:

  1. 1. Clicking on ‘Apply now’ and filling in all relevant details.
  2. 2. Sending an email to MedEntry at info@medentry.co.uk. The health professional should use their professional email address and ensure that the application is addressed to ‘Scholarships Officer – MedEntry UCAT Prep’.

Note:

MedEntry has a strong commitment to the community, and we are passionate about widening access to education to those from disadvantaged and under-serviced groups.

We are pleased to offer 25% off our Essential and Premium - Individual packages for students who can provide suitable supporting evidence.

Suitable Supporting Evidence

  • Free school meals: A letter from the student's school/college, or local council confirming that they are eligible to, or receive, free meals.
  • 16-19 bursary (England) or Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) (Scotland, Wales or NI): An official award letter for this academic year.
  • Universal credit: If the student or their parent/guardians receive Universal Credit, then they can provide a recent statement. There is an example of this on the UCAT website here.
  • Income Support/Job Seeker's Allowance or Employment and Support Allowance (ESA): If the student or their parent/guardian receives this, then they can provide a letter from the UK Jobcentre Plus, dated this year.
  • Asylum Support: If the student or a parent/guardian receives this support, then they can provide a letter dated from this year.
  • Working or Child Tax Credit: If the student or a family member is in receipt of Tax Credits, then they can provide a letter dated from this year or last. The student must be named on the award.

This bursary is awarded to MedEntry students who obtain a high UCAT score, high academic results and are awarded an academic scholarship by a university to study medicine.

Value

Up to £200.

Information/documentation required to apply:

  • Evidence of award of scholarship (e.g. letter from university, certificate). Note: This must show the type of scholarship and amount awarded
  • Evidence of high UCAT and academic scores.
  • Evidence of any other outstanding academic achievements (e.g. Biology Olympiad)

The UCAT is highly competitive, and each year many MedEntry students receive exceptional scores. This bursary is awarded to MedEntry students who perform outstandingly well in all three sections of the UCAT.

Criteria

Scholarships are awarded to MedEntry students who receive the highest UCAT score, defined as the highest total score when the three section scores are combined, as displayed on the applicant’s UCAT Score Report.

Students who have purchased MedEntry's Essential, Premium or Comprehensive Package within the last twelve months are able to purchase a new Essential, Premium Individual or Comprehensive Package at a discounted rate.  Students do not need to apply for this discount - it will be automatically applied at check out just before you pay.

To obtain your Last Year's Student Discount:

  • Log into your MedEntry account that was used to purchase your previous package
  • Click on Pricing at the top of the page and then scroll down to the package options.
  • Choose a package and add to cart.
  • The discount will automatically be applied before payment
  • Proceed through the checkout process

Note: Group Packages and Headstart packages are not eligible for this additional discount.
