GCSE Requirements

GCSE Requirements for Plymouth University Peninsula Medical School are:

  • Maths - Grade 4 minimum
  • English - Grade 4 minimum
  • Science - Grade 4 minimum in either Double Award Science or two from single award Chemistry, Biology or Physics.
  • Other requirements - 7 GCSEs at grade 4 minimum, including English Language, Maths, and either Double Award Science or two from single award Chemistry, Biology or Physics.

GCSEs are not scored. Only minimum requirements needed.

A-levels or Scottish Higher requirements.

The typical offer is A*AA – AAB at GCE A level which must include an A grade in biology and A in one further science from chemistry, physics, maths, and psychology. Your third GCE A level can be from any subject area including the humanities, languages, music, sport, science and the social sciences. General Studies is not accepted.

AAB offers are specifically for applicants coming from a Widening Participation background who meet contextual requirements.

Scottish Advanced Highers: AAA which must include Grade A in Biology and Grade A in one further science from Chemistry, Physics, Maths, and Psychology.

International Baccalaureate

36–38 points overall including Higher Level 6 in Biology and Higher Level 6 in one further science from Chemistry, Physics, Maths, and Psychology.

Graduate Applicant Degree Requirements

Degrees are not recognised. GAMSAT is required.
